Edward FitzGerald obtained his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in 1990, and his Juris Doctor from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1993, when he also became licensed as an attorney in Ohio.  Ed has practiced civil, criminal and administrative law in Ohio for fourteen years.  He was appointed and served as an Assistant County Prosecutor in Cuyahoga County, where he conducted more than 100 jury and bench trials, and regularly appeared in the Eighth Judicial District Court of Appeals.  Ed also served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in its Chicago, Illinois office for three years, concentrating on organized crime and complex investigations.  Ed’s private practice of law has included a wide variety of civil and administrative practice, including negotiations, trial work and appellate practice.

Ed has extensive experience in government relations.  From 1991-1994 Ed worked as a staff assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives, and from 1993-94 specifically worked for Congressman Eric Fingerhut.  From 1999 through 2007 Ed has served as a City Councilman for the City of Lakewood, Ohio.  Effective January 2008 Ed will assume the role of Mayor of Lakewood based upon his resounding electoral victory in November 2007.

Ed will concentrate his law practice in government relations, business litigation and transactions, and general practice.
